Louis Lehot, a partner in Foley & Lardner LLP’s Silicon Valley office, recently joined Home of Hope’s advisory board. With a population of over a billion people in India, Home of Hope (HOH) has been a catalyst in the area of education, mental health, computer and vocational training, and special needs, by making ordinary impacts that have become extraordinary successes.

Louis Lehot, Business Attorney, joins the advisory board of Home of Hope

For Lehot, with success and privilege, comes great obligation. “What is special about HOH is the immediate impact of each dollar that is contributed to the organization. When you spend time with the leadership, you see where the dollars are going, and you see that there is really no overhead taken off the top,” he said. “What’s remarkable about HOH is the people involved are giving their own time and their own money.”

Originally founded in 2000 by Dr. Nilima Sabharwal with a mission to provide support and educational opportunities to empower underprivileged youth to become self-sustaining adults, HOH funded the inception of mental health program in Udayan Care for $10K. And, in 2007, India’s first major Mental health law was enforced. The organization has brought big changes to the quality of life of more than 100,000 of India’s youth. The opportunities provided by HOH make a big difference in uplifting the lives of mentally and physically handicapped, orphaned, and abandoned children.

Home of Hope’s programs are uplifting disenfranchised populations in meaningful ways, according to Louis Lehot. By supporting the organization’s mission and programs, the San Francisco Bay Area business, technology and entrepreneur community is having a direct impact.

He added, “When you get involved in any organization, you want to be successful and what I come away with every time I visit with Home of Hope is impact — that I can see, feel and touch — and that for me is part of the reason I keep coming back.”

On October 9th, Foley sponsored the Home of Hope Annual Gala, and in addition to supporting Home of Hope’s fundraising efforts, the law firm provides pro bono counsel to the organization. For further information about Home of Hope, click here.
